Constitution

1. Title

the Club shall be known as “Salle Boston Fencing Club”.

2. Objectives

The objectives of the Club are:

A) To promote interest in fencing among members,

B) to provide facilities to meet members’ interests in fencing in a way that is fair to everyone,

C) to promote fencing locally and increase the community participation in thre sport,

D) to ensure a duty of care to all members of the club,

E) to affiliate the Club to British Fencing (BF)and to encourage its members to become members of BF.

3.Membership and Subscription

A) Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in fencing on application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. howoever, limitation of membership according to available facilities is allowable on a non discriminatory basis.

B) The Club may have different classes of membership and subscription on a non discriminatory and fair basis. The Club will keep subscriptions at levels that will not pose a significant obstacle to people participating. All Club monies will be banked in an account held in the name of the Club.

C) The amount(s)of the subscription(s) must be written into the Club’s rules so that they cannot be altered except at the AGM after proper notice has been given.

D) Members whose subscription remains unpaid for more than 3 months after the due date will be considered as having ceased to be members.

4. Constitution

The affairs of the Club shall be administered by the Committee consisting of:

Chairman

Treasurer

Secretary

Development Officer

Child Protection Officer

B) The Committee shall consist of at least 3 and not more than 6 members.

C) The Officers of the Committee shall serve for one year, and may stand for re-election.

D)The Committee shall have the responsibility for the management of the Club, its funds, property and affairs.

E) At least 3 members must be present for the meeting to be valid.

F) The Committee shall have powerto co-opt anyone to its meetings, but he or she will not have power to vote.

G) The Committee shall have the power to fill casual vacancies.

H) Decisions shall be made by simple majority of those voting.

I) The Chair will have a casting vote.

J) The Committee shall meet at regular intervals.

5. Officers’ Duties

A) Chairman

Whoever acts as a Chairman of the Club is responsible to the members for overall running of the Club; this includes ensuring that the Club meets its objectives, financial affairs, the conduct of meetings, and ensuring that the other Officers and Committee members carry out their duties delegated to them.

B) Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for: collecting subscriptions, paying and receiving money, running the Club account, keeping proper records of payments and receipts,and for presenting accounts at AGM.

C) Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for day to day administration, drafting and circulating agendas and minutes and dealing with correspondence.

D) Development Officer

The Development Officer is responsible for the growth of the Club, for promoting the Club in the community and for organizing the introductory courses to attract people of all ages and abilities to participate in Club’s activities.

E) Child Protection Officer

The Child Protection Officer is responsible for ensuring that all staff are familiar, and adhere to #child Protection policy; Ensuring that the policy is implemented and promoted; Receiving and acting upon any concerns; Keeping up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the area of child protection, including attending appropriate training.

6. Elections

A) The Officers and Committee members shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting by a simple majority of those present and voting.

B) Nominations must be accompanied by a written consent of the person nominated to serve if elected.

7. All General Meetings

A) All members may attend all General Meetings of the Club in person.

B) Meetings need 13 clear days written notice to members. The Secretary of the Club must include details of any proposed changes in club ru;es.

C) The quorum for all General Meetings is 8 members or 20%of the total membership, whichever is lesser.

D) The Chair or (in his or her absence) another member chosen at the meeting will preside.

8. Annual General Meeting

A) The Club will hold AGM once in every calendar year and not more than 16 months after the last AGM. At every AGM:

B) The members will elect a Committee to serve until the next AGM, including a Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, DevelopmentOfficer and Child Protection Officer.

C) The Treasurer will produce accounts of the Clubfor the latest financial year, audited as the Committee will decide.

D) The Committee will present a raport of the Club’s activities since the previous AGM.

E) Themembers will discuss and vote onany resolutions and deal with any other business put to meeting.

9. Declaration

Salle Boston Fencing Club adopts and accepts this Constitution as a current operating guide regulating the actions of members.
